Ceiling-Mounted Automatic Extinguishers

Achieve fire suppression even when not physically present by installing ceiling-mounted automatic extinguishers. These extinguishers are an ideal solution for effectively covering large areas and are commonly found in storage areas, server rooms, and engine bays. Their quick detection and extinguishing capabilities help prevent fires from escalating and spreading.

Activated automatically when the room reaches a specific temperature, these extinguishers require no human intervention. This makes them particularly suitable for environments with minimal human presence or for after-hours protection. Ceiling-mounted automatic extinguishers are available in both powder and clean agent options, allowing you to choose the firefighting solution that best suits your needs.

How Do You Install Ceiling-Mounted Automatic Extinguishers?

Supplied with a standard bracket, the installation of ceiling-mounted automatic extinguishers requires appropriate fixings based on the structure where they will be mounted, be it plasterboard or concrete. It's important to consider the weight of the unit, as some ceilings may not adequately support certain automatic extinguisher models. In such cases, our range of wall-mounted solutions may be worth exploring.

For optimal coverage, it is recommended to install the automatic fire extinguisher centrally within the room. This ensures equal protection for all corners and increases the chances of early activation in the event of a fire. However, caution should be exercised to avoid placing the extinguisher directly above equipment that may generate heat during normal operation.

Which Ceiling Mounted Automatic Extinguisher Do I Need?

Determining the appropriate size of the ceiling-mounted automatic extinguisher depends on the size of the room you intend to protect. As an example, our 10kg automatic extinguisher can cover an area of up to 28 m2, while our compact 1kg automatic extinguisher is suitable for smaller rooms, covering approximately 3 m2. Larger rooms may require multiple automatic extinguishers for sufficient coverage.

When selecting the type of ceiling-mounted automatic extinguisher, powder extinguishers offer a cost-effective solution. They are suitable for Class A (wood, paper, cloth, etc.), Class B (flammable liquids), and Class C (flammable gas) fires. Additionally, powder extinguishers can be used safely around live electrical equipment. However, it's important to note that powder may impair breathing and vision and can cause corrosion to sensitive equipment.

Alternatively, clean gas automatic extinguishers, also known as clean agent automatic extinguishers, are suitable for the same types of fires. These extinguishers leave no residue, thereby minimising collateral damage and simplifying the cleanup process. They are particularly well-suited for protecting sensitive equipment and environments.
