Union DoorSense Fire Door Retainer Black

A fully legal and compliant way of holding open a fire door, the Union DoorSense J-8755A Acoustic Release Hold-Open Unit, in black, works with your existing fire alarm to shut the door in an emergency. Commonly found in schools, care homes, hospitals, and other public buildings, the wireless fire door holder gives ventilation, wheelchair access, and improved convenience. However, unlike your normal door wedge, this allows an open fire door to automatically close is there’s a possible fire.

Quick and easy to install, and requiring no additional wiring, it uses the same footprint of any existing acoustically-activated door retaining devices. With the door held open, it will automatically close when it hears your existing fire alarm of over 80dB and continuing for longer than 15 seconds, with adjustable sensitivity. The fire door retainer is powered by two Alkaline C batteries for long working life and has a low battery indicator to help you keep the unit in excellent working order.

Once in place, you can have it working manually or automatically via a timer to set a night release time, and then leave DoorSense to get on with the job of giving easy access while keeping everyone safe. Designed to be robust and practical, the curved and red fire-retardant casing helps to deflect impacts and stay looking smart even when subjected to extreme treatment.

CE marked and compliant with EN1155:1997, the wireless fire door holder provides up to two hours of fire resistance on a timber door and has a two-year manufacturer’s guarantee. Designed for use with door closure, it’s suitable for doors up to 160kg and 1600mm wide, and is supplied with batteries, fitting and setup instructions, and floor plate. Must be used in conjunction with a door closure.
