Raising the alarm and providing an early warning for the potential presence of fire, the battery-powered optical smoke detector with hush detects the formation of smoke with its sensitive photoelectric system. False alarms caused by steam from a bathroom or kitchen are less likely to occur, unlike the old-fashioned ionisation versions.
Thanks to a handy test and hush button, the alarm can be silenced and reduced in sensitivity for a period of 10 minutes, with a large button used to check that the smoke alarm is functioning correctly. Supplied with a 9v battery and fixing as standard, the optical smoke detector produces an 85-decibel alarm, features a low battery indicator, includes a warning LED, and is compliant to EN14604:2005.

Fixing requires two little screws and wallplugs (included) to screw to the ceiling.
