What are fixings and fittings?

Fittings and fixings are interchangeable terms, for the most part, and refer to any mechanical device used to join materials and parts together. Leading examples of these items would be screws, nails, bolts, and rivets.

What’s the difference between fixtures and fittings?

Fixtures are items in a property that are permanently attached to the building, whereas fittings are movable. But of course, that’s not the definition of fittings that we use here, so refer to the question above for what we mean when we say fitting, and don’t think about fixtures for now.

What’s the difference between fastenings and fixings?

Practically nothing, they do basically mean the same thing, with the difference perhaps being best described as fixings being intended for long-lasting fittings, and fastenings are for when you want something to be secure, but very easily adjustable.
