Suitable for vertical and horizontal installations and designed for wall-mounting, recessing, or freestanding, the Premium Fire-Rated Mailbox System comes in grey, black, and white finishes to suit your décor. Complete with a flapped front aperture, post can be inserted into the box and quickly and easily retrieved by unlocking the front panel. In turn, this helps to prevent mail theft and vandalism.
Designed to contain an arson attack or withstand and prevent the spread of fire for up to 60 minutes, the letterbox is essential for maintaining the existing fire rating integrity. Royal Mail and BS EN 13724 compliant, the mailboxes are large enough to hold A4 sized letters. So, you can rest assured that any standard post will easily fit.
How Do The Fire Rated Mailboxes Work?
Guaranteeing fire integrity thanks to a number of features which all work together, each mailbox features an inward sprung hinge on the flap - ensuring that it remains tightly shut after use. Also featuring an intumescent seal which expands to fill this gap when exposed to very high temperatures, the aperture restricts oxygen inside the mailbox – containing the fire either inside or outside.
Fitted to every fire box is a specially-designed cylinder lock which comes complete with a fire cover. This ensures that fire and oxygen does not pass through the tiny gaps featured on the lock. Constructed of electro-galvanised steel, the main body and front of each mailbox is powder coated to offer a sleek finish. Compliant with London Underground Engineering Standard 2-01001-002, the mailbox is resistant to fire with the surface working effectively to prevent the spread of fire.
Ensuring that you are also compliant to BS476 Part 22 and conforming to BS276 Part 6 and 7, the 60 minute fire rated mailbox has sufficiently passed independent testing. This ensures that the mailbox satisfies the demands of fire protection in most cases, while offering one-hour fire integrity. They are also fully compliant with the 2014 guidelines for new homes by Secured By Design.
